Jan. 17, 1995 Contents: 1. Bugs fixed, new port and release plan 2. Disconnection of HDF computers 3. Lost messages 1. Bugs fixed in mfhdf/, port to 64-bit hdf/ and release plan: o Single data values written by using SDwritedata() or ncvarput1() or their FORTRAN versions might not be able to be read back later. This bug has been fixed. o In mfhdf/ ncsync and ncsnc didn't work correctly. The bug causes data to be lost if ncsync or ncsnc was called right after the SDwritedata or ncvarput or their Fortran version calls. This bug has been fixed. o On SGI R8000, HDF (both hdf/ and mfhdf/) can be compiled with -32 option. The hdf/ part can also be compiled with -64 option, but the mfhdf/ part does not compile with -64 yet. We will resume the porting when we get time. o A plan for a new release of HDF3.3r5 is set targetting the middle of April, 1995. If you need a patch for the above bug fixes or for the 64-bit hdf/ on SGI R8000 before HDF3.3r5 is released, please send your requests to hdfhelp@ncsa.uiuc.edu. 2. Due to remodeling of our offices the HDF computers will be intermittently disconnected until Jan. 23, 1995. This means that we won't have access to e-mail, hdfhelp and other HDF computing resources during that time. The HDF WWW server will be disconnected also. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. 3. We've just discovered that since Dec. 14, 1994 the HDF WWW server has been losing feedback forms and bug reports sent by users via Mosaic. If you have sent anything to us it probably is lost. Please e-mail it again to hdfhelp@ncsa.uiuc.edu. We apologize for the problem and will fix it as soon as we can.
