Release of HDF 4.2.10
The HDF 4.2.10 release is now available. It can be obtained from the HDF Downloads page:

HDF 4.2.10 is a minor release with a few new features and changes, including the following:

Support was added for Visual Studio 2012 with Intel Fortran 13 on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Many changes and improvements to the configuration files were made, including:

The default C compiler for Macintosh platforms was changed to the Apple supported clang compiler.

The -Xc (strict ansi standard) option is no longer specified by default on Solaris.

A few changes were made to the CMake support.

Configuration files for old platforms were removed.

Future Changes to Supported Compilers
Please be aware of the following changes to future releases of HDF4:

The HDF4 C library will be upgraded to the C99 standard.

The HDF4 Fortran library will only be tested and supported with Fortran 90 compilers.
We strongly encourage you to upgrade if you are using HDF4 with a pre-C99 C compiler or a Fortran compiler prior to Fortran 90.
